The Power of Understanding People

We often see brothers on good terms get into a terrible conflict over the heritage of a small amount of property. In many cases people, even acquaintances and friends, appeal to court to settle disputes concerning their rights. In big enterprises, workers go on a strike for a pay raise.
It may be so that we try to struggle to satisfy our desires on the strength of our rights because we love ourselves most in the world. Bank robbers work in perfect teamwork, timed to the second. The instant they see the money, however, they start to kill their comrades, blinded by avarice. Looking back into the past of human history, man easily killed other people for his desire. This kind of behavior may not be that different from that of animals.
Human beings, however, have a faculty to understand others, unlike animals. Maybe they have realized that it is not necessary to go so far as to kill each other. There will be less and less conflicts over rights if we learn to acquire a mind to understand others.
We might say that the time has come when we compete over the understanding of our customers. In enterprises, too, mutual understanding between management and laborers is the most important thing.
And it may become a key factor for management to discover and develop the potential of employees to be able to win in the field of competition.

We tend to have a passion to do something at the risk of our life for those who understand us.
It may be that man has not yet realized the importance and the value of understanding others.
