Your boss is like a parent

Parents bring up their children with feelings of love.
Yet, sometimes they will scold their children and even act coldly and distantly towards them. Parents sometimes must be strict rather than show affection toward their children, because if parents spoil their children the result cannot be undone.
Parents often feel more nervous than their child on the day before the child is involved in a competition or game. They feel like praying for the child's success. If their child wins or succeeds, they often derive more pleasure and satisfaction from it than the child.
And, naturally, children compete with the urge to please the parents who support them so wholeheartedly. When they win they tell the good news to their parents before anyone else.
Similar relationships prevail in the workplace. Work is like a game or a competition and the bosses in the company play the role of parents. When they delegate work they are more nervous than their subordinates. And when their subordinates complete a task very well, bosses get greater pleasure out of it than the workers themselves.
Unless bosses and their subordinates develop a firm, trusting relationship, like that between parents and children in a happy family, they will never be able to produce good work.
When subordinates have the enthusiasm to please their bosses, they can truly buckle down and do a good job. Subordinates should always be modest and ask their bosses if their work is OK or not. At the same time, bosses should, in the manner of a parent, be prepared to pat workers on the back for a job well done.
Human beings should never act like robots. They should never work mechanically, aiming merely to finish the work at hand. What's important is how wholehearted you can be in your work.
Feeling that your work is interesting and challenging, or rather, feeling that the mutual understanding in the workplace is more interesting must be the human approach to work.

If bosses and their subordinates can learn to derive pleasure from working together while building trust between themselves, the bond between them will grow stronger and stronger.
